Software Engineering Experience

I have been a software engineer for more than three years. In my most recent work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, I designed and implemented a Linux kernel module to provide OS-level services to improve the performance of computer system simulations. My other work included inventing a new algorithm to simulate discrete event system specifications. I also designed a domain-specific language for modeling systems.

At Pariveda Solutions, I worked on a wide range of projects, from on-premises social media applications to serverless data pipeline solutions in AWS. Most notable was my implementation of a real-time data platform using AWS Kinesis, Lambda, and DynamoDB.

Teaching Experience

While I was an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee (2012-2016), I discovered a love for teaching by working as a subject tutor at Outlier's Advantage. There, I also laid the foundation for OA's ACT Math curriculum (2016-2017). From 2018 to 2019, I tutored mathematics at Huntington Learning Center. In 2019, I took a leap and started my own tutoring business on Wyzant. Since then, I have individually tutored over 60 high-school and college students in mathematics, computer science, and test prep.

In the fall of 2021, I taught precalculus as an intern teacher at Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee. There, I made it my mission to convince students that math is as fun and wondrous a subject as any other. My capstone lesson guided students to create their own video game using parametric equations.
